The origins of Doubleback BBQ
We started out as friends who liked to travel all over Texas sampling our great state's wide array of barbecue styles. We enjoyed trying new barbecue joints, chatting with pitmasters, and taking in the overall feel of the best smoked meats in the state. All of that eating led to cooking in a few different barbecue competitions with mixed results; we liked the food we made, but quickly learned that the world of competition barbecue was a vastly different product than what we liked to cook or eat. After much discussion, we decided to take all of the lessons learned from our barbecue travels and start our own business. The name Doubleback BBQ is an homage to our travels throughout Texas. Passing up a barbecue joint we were looking for and having to make a u-turn to double back to it was a frequent occurrence.
At Doubleback BBQ, we try to maintain the highest quality standards possible for the food we serve. We use prime graded brisket and serve only products we believe in. All of our meats are slow smoked over indirect heat, and we make all of our sauces, rubs, buns, pickles, and desserts from scratch. It is important to us that our customers have confidence that the food they're eating was carefully sourced, prepared, and cooked without any corners being cut.
